(March 21st to April 19th)
As long as he is holding your hand, you would jump into the ocean with him. Take a rocket to Mars with him. Walk through a tornado with him. Walk across hot coals with him. You’d do everything except walk away from him.
(April 20th to May 21st)
Every sense is heightened. You feel it in your fingers. You feel it in your toes. Colors are more vivid. Scents are more exotic. Everything tastes better. It feels like a warm electric blanket has been lit inside you, like someone has flipped on a switch inside your heart.
(May 22nd to June 21st)
Suddenly, stupid love songs that used to make you roll your eyes now bring a tear to your eye. Stuffed animals and baby pictures seem cute. Those dumb corny inspirational memes seem profound. You pet every dog you see on the street. Everything is so sticky-sweet, it makes all your friends sick—but to you, sickness never felt so good.
(June 22nd to July 22nd)
No matter what time of year it is, everything feels like springtime. Birds are chirping. Flowers are growing. Bees are buzzing. The sun is shining. People are sunning themselves in the park…even if there is two feet of snow on the ground and the sky is covered in dark clouds, everything still feels like springtime.
(July 23rd to August 22nd)
You lose your keys. You forget if you locked the door or turned off the stove. You bump into things. You can’t remember what day it is. You forget to pay bills. People start honking at you because the light turned green and you’re still thinking about him.
(August 23rd to September 22nd)
You want to quit your job, leave your apartment, pack up your car, and travel with him—anywhere. It doesn’t matter where you go, because everywhere seems new. Drive to Kansas? Why not? Then Montana? Of course! Everywhere you go looks and feels like love.
(September 23rd to October 22nd)
You feel invincible. Like you could step in front of a train and stop it. Catch bullets with your teeth. Stand amid a herd of stampeding buffalo and emerged unscathed. Wrestle alligators. Catch babies as they fall from burning buildings. End all wars and establish everlasting world peace. But if you can’t get around to doing all that, you just want to cuddle in bed with him and watch TV.
(October 23rd to November 22nd)
Everything—and I mean everything—reminds you of him. Trees. The sky. The sun. Water. Stoplights. Buildings. Sidewalks. Benches. Fireplugs. Everywhere you look you see him—until you’re actually in his presence again, and then you can’t see anything else because it all turns into a blur.
(November 23rd to December 21st)
When you’re away from him, you feel it in your bones. It’s painful. It’s like drug withdrawal or a nasty case of the flu. The slightest inconvenience or discomfort is enough to make you cry. And what’s crazy is that this is all good. You wouldn’t have it any other way.
(December 22nd to January 20th)
You can’t eat. Can’t sleep. Don’t shower or brush your teeth. Wear the same clothes for three days. Miss appointments. Slack on work. And you’ve never felt better in your life.
(January 21st to February 18th)
Everything that used to look ugly now looks beautiful. Why, look at how all that broken glass strewn across the street glitters in the wonderful moonlight! And isn’t that rat that just ran out of the sewer the cutest little furry thing? You never noticed how those abandoned buildings on the bad side of town resemble the Acropolis in Greece—such beautiful ruins! The only ugly thing in the world is the thought of losing him.
(February 19th to March 20th)
Everything is funny. Even the things you used to hate. Even the fact that you used to hate them. Even the idea of hate is funny, because it’s so silly. The funniest thing is that you’ve forgotten what hate feels like—you find that absolutely hilarious!
